Hello Loyal Readers,
Rob is doing the ‘Ride with Brad’ on Sunday. He will be cycling 50 K setting off from Barnoldswick. It is a fantastic scheme headed by Olympic champion Sir Bradley Wiggins that encourages folk to get on their bike and allows people to raise money for charity.
Rob is cycling to raise money for Pendleside Hospice which is a charity that is very close to our hearts. When I was 21 Pendleshide Hospice provided excellent care and support to my friend Rachel, who sadly passed away from a brain tumor. She fought it for nine months and through out her ups and downs the Hospice not only looked after her but they kept her busy with fun events and creative challenges. The Hospice provided a workshop on using watercolours and she produced these beautiful paintings. Until then I didn’t even know that Rachel could paint! They also threw a surprise 21st birthday party for her which she was absolutely thrilled with!
Just today I was talking to a friend of mine whose fiance is in the hospice now. Her fiance was worried about her future security and as his health is declining they held an emergency wedding at the hospice. Because it was a quick decision my friend didn’t get the chance to wear the dress she had picked out, but the Hospice Team were not fazed by the emergency wedding and put on a buffet for them and their family to share.
I think that is what make Pendleside Hospice so special. They go above and beyond to bring light and love even into the scariest of situations. They stand with people. They genuinely care for not only the patients but their friends and family too.
So please check out Rob’s training diary below and we would love it if you could donate to this wonderful charity!
