I have just realised in all the time I have been blogging I have completely neglected to update my ‘About’ page! That is a blogger-sin right there so I guess it is time I filled this empty white box with something…

I originally started Red Rose Style in an effort to get myself writing more regularly. I have found that I am happier on the days that I write.

I dabble in creative writing which for now is staying private, and I preach and speak at my Church which is all about crafting words to connect people to ideas and new thoughts. I find both these kinds of writing very fulfilling and interesting but I also had an urge to write about things that, for want of a better word, are frivolous.

I wanted to write about pretty things, and silly things, lovely things; often unimportant but nevertheless enjoyable things; like cake, and make-up, walks in the woods and dresses with skirts that swirl when you twirl!

Blogging seemed like the perfect outlet.

I called my blog Red Rose Style because I am a Lancashire girl and am rather proud of my gem of a county. I love it’s hills, woods and rivers, I like it’s little towns and quirky tea rooms, (I love the sensible Lancashire approach to prices too!). The weather may be a bit nippy but there is a lot of warmth in the people.

Red Rose Style is ultimately a celebration of these small pleasures in life.

I have become very attached to my little corner of the internet over the last couple of years, and I really appreciate those of you who have found me and decided to stick around and press that ‘follow’ button. You are all lovely!

Thank you,

  1. Hi there,
We recently came across your blog (well me, Tiffanie) and I really appreciate your mix of books/reviews, as well as other lifestyle bits and pieces. I’m looking forward to reading “The Hundred Dresses”. We are nominating you for a Liebster Award, with details here: http://mtbooookish.wordpress.com/2013/12/13/liebster-nomination-warning-very-long-post/.
We would love to hear your responses to the questions at the end of the post (it’s pretty long).
Tiffanie and Miranda (P.S. We promise that we’re not spam bots, just trying to interact and connect with bloggers!)

  2. Hi Cathy I have nominated you for a Liebster Award. Check out my Liebster Award post for details. No pressure. Just a bit of fun. Hope your well.

Hi. My name is Maria Cassar. I am currently studying at the Peter Symonds College. As part of my Extended project qualification I am researching the role of women in marriage in the novels Pride and Prejudice and Bridget Jones Diaries.

I was wondering if you would be able to help me with my research by providing my ideas that I am able to reference in my work.

    Thank you for your time.

    Kind Regards,
