Have you ever found that not all hunger can be satisfied with the same food? When you’re craving fish and chips a salad will not cut it. Or if you’re feeling a bit parched a juicy peach is ten times more delicious than a digestive biscuit.
It can be the same with blog reading. Different moods call for different blogs. So please look no further for my all round guide to the blogs you are in the mood for….
For a quick giggle: How Do I Put this Gently?
This blog is updated daily and simple matches gifs to very specific situations and feelings. This is the site where you will discover the similarities between drunk people and uncoordinated puppies.
This blog often makes me snort with laughter and the first time I discovered it I lost a good hour scrolling through the archives.
For a friendly face: Humans of New York
This blog is just beautiful. The about page explains what it is better than I ever could so here is an extract from the site:
My name is Brandon and I began Humans of New York in the summer of 2010. HONY resulted from an idea that I had to construct a photographic census of New York City.. But somewhere along the way, HONY began to take on a much different character. I started collecting quotes and short stories from the people I met, and began including these snippets alongside the photographs. Taken together, these portraits and captions became the subject of a vibrant blog, which over the past two years has gained a large daily following. With nearly one million collective followers on Facebook and Tumblr, HONY now provides a worldwide audience with glimpses into the lives of strangers in New York City.
There is something truly uplifting in the series of photos and short captions. This blog seems to capture all the many traits that make us all human; our creativity, our pain, our love, our insecurity and our hopes. Each story and each face reminds us that no matter our differences, all people are people.
For childish antics: Reasons my son is crying
Have you ever looked into the face of a crying child and laughed at their pain? No? Well that is about to change as you scroll through one father’s relentless documentation of each and every nonsensical tantrum of his two young sons. He simply takes a photo of the child whilst crying and posts the reason why. My favourite reason is ‘We had to turn the TV off because it is time to go to Disneyland’ or possibly ‘a bug landed near him.’
For Stepford Wife Inspiration: Inspired by Charm
Blogger and B&B owner Michael may not be a wife or a robot, but he can set up a table-scape for a dinner party quicker than you can say ‘themed cocktail’. Inspired by Charm is the perfect place to browse a host of ideas to make your house more of a home. Michael covers a range of topics including craft projects, mouth-watering recipes and bewitching interior design. Despite the perfection on display, Michael’s ideas come across as affordable and achievable even for a skint novice like me thanks to his super step by step instructions and his love of all things thrift.
For Before and After Photos: New Dress A Day
Meet Marisa. A Couple of years ago she set herself the challenge of buying all of her clothes from charity shops and adjusting them to her own size and style. Her blog chronicles the many dresses, skirts, jumpsuits and smocks she has rescued from the fashion scrap heap and re-worked into something modern and wearable.
If you love make over shows you will love this blog.
Hmm… this post is getting rather long, I leave the list here for now and return one day with a part two. Feel free to make suggestions in the comments. Who do you like to follow?
