Amazingly it has been almost a month since my last blog post. This is what happens when School restarts in September and the days get a lot more busy and full and my energy to blog diminishes!
Despite my absence from the internet a lovely thing has happened! I have been nominated for a Liebster Award from Sharon at Sunshine and Celandines. I’ve been following Sharon’s blog for a couple of years now and she is amazing at finding hidden treasures to go and visit. Her blog has led me more than once to making trips to new tea rooms, quirky shops or interesting attractions. If you live in Lancashire/Yorkshire I would really recommend following her!
The Liebster Award works like this: you nominate bloggers to answer a mini Q&A to get to know them a little better, they answer the Q&A then nominate new bloggers to do the same.
It sounds like a cool way to make connections and highlight the blogs you love to read so I am happy to take part. Here are my answer’s to Sharon’s questions:
What’s the last boxset you watched?
A couple of weeks ago we bought the Muppet Show season 1 in a second hand DVD shop so Rob and I are making our way through that. It is a little bit like looking into a very mad time capsule.
They are great for evenings when you feel done in and need to put your feet up and relax.
Are you a cat or a dog person?
I love them both, I want to make friends with nearly every dog that we meet when walking about but I guess if I had to choose I would have to go with cats. We always have had cats in the house when I was growing up and since moving out of my parent’s house it has been strange living without them. We are renting at the moment but as soon as we buy our own house kittens will be sought and brought home!
Lakeside or seashore?
Oh this is a tough one! I have had so many happy holidays in the Lake District, I love being surrounded by hills and taking banana boats on to the smooth water. But the sea is something so powerful that I think it wins this round. I like sunny beach holidays as much as the next person but I love the sea most on windy days when it is all tossed up, or when you can see rain clouds looming in the distance and watch them come closer and closer.
What do you like to do to wind down?
Get into some really comfy clothes; joggers and oversized jumper. Find a warm quiet corner, bring a book and a chocolate based snack. Job done!
Or if I am feeling too frazzled to settle into a book, I find a bit of dragon slaying on Skyrim always helps.
Do you have a sweet tooth?
Yes, I do. I very much enjoy food and now that it is Bake Off season my cake cravings have gone through the roof. Last Friday Rob and I went to the White Bear in Barrowford for our tea and we finished it off with a hot chocolate sundae to share between us: hot chocolate fudge cake pieces, covered with scoops of vanilla ice cream, then whipped cream drizzled in hot chocolate sauce with a flake on top. Heavenly!
What was your favorite book as a child?
I can’t choose just one! When I was very little I loved Beatrix Potter. Then I devoured Enid Blyton’s Malory Towers and Twins at St Clair’s series and begged Mum to send me to boarding school.
Lord of the Rings also was a main feature and it took me most of my childhood to read it! By the time I had finished I felt like I really had lived through the epic, step by step with Frodo!
Audrey Hepburn or Marilyn Monroe?
Audrey Hepburn. I love Breakfast at Tiffany’s to pieces. For me the best time to watch it is on rainy weekend afternoons,
Which Festival would you really like to go to?
I am not really a festival type of person. I always end up feeling a bit awkward at gigs, not sure what I am supposed to do…stand, dance, clap, sway, bob along to the music… I get so flustered trying to fit in or look like I am enjoying myself that I rarely have a good time.
But I do like craft and vintage fairs. There is a Steampunk Weekend in Haworth in November and I am looking forward to going that. I think I may even dress up for it!
What is your favourite season?
Autumn! It is my Birthday in October and my friend has a theory that everyone loves the season they were born into. Maybe that is a factor but so are gold leaves, conkers, grey skies, golden evening light, misty mornings, thick black tights and big brown boots!
Where in the world would your holiday home be?
A cottage that overlooked the sea and was close to some wild woods. I don’t really mind where exactly, all I want is space, good views and good company.
Now I would like to nominate:
Beth Tinkerbell from Beth Tinkerbell
Catherine from Vintage Frills
And to any bloggers out there who want to join in!
My questions are:
What was the last film you watched?
What would your Patronous be?
City break or Country-get-away?
What would be your perfect girls night in?
